Life coaching is a forward thinking, healthy, thought-provoking and empowering process that aids people in reshaping their ways of being, thinking, and behaving. Coaching challenges the limiting beliefs, perceptions, and assumptions that block many from achieving their goals and living purposeful, productive, and joyful lives. Coaching helps people quickly get to the root of their problems and moves people forward in a facilitative process for positive change.
Teenage girls find it helpful and comforting to have the assistance of someone who is non-judgmental, a good and objective listener, and capable of thinking outside the box to help them make their lives more manageable, more enjoyable, and who will move them forward in achieving their goals.
Why would a teenager need a coach?
The teenage years are the beginning of a journey to self-discovery. On that journey there will be academic pressures, social pressures, parent drama, friend drama, and boy drama. There will also be insecurities about body image, where and how to fit in, and the feeling within her wondering if she is “enough”.
Current studies state that a girl’s confidence and self-esteem peak at the age of nine and declines at the age of thirteen. Additionally, 1 out of 4 teens are bullied and 20% of teens suffer from depression before they are 18 years old. Recent studies also reveal that teenage girls with low confidence and self-esteem are twice as likely to use tobacco, alcohol, drugs, and use social media irresponsibly – putting themselves at risk.
Some teens need a coach, and others simply want a coach to help them manage the drama, stress, and pressures that the teen years can inflict so they can stay on track in defining who they are, what they want, and achieve their goals near and far. Andi builds rapport with her clients and gives them the tools to make healthy decisions, overcome struggles, and move forward developing and maintaining her best self and best future.
How does it work?
The first session is always complimentary and includes both parent and teen. During this 30-minute session we will talk about goals, boundaries, go over expectations, and clarify any questions or concerns. All sessions going forward are one-on-one with a parental check-in session every six weeks.
After our initial session, I kick-start the coaching process by having clients complete a Values Assessment, and the Energy Leadership Index Assessment. Together we review these assessments, which will provide us with a launching point in aligning goals with values. This being said, please read on for more detailed information regarding assessments.
Energy Leadership Index Assessment (ELI):
An ELI Assessment is a one-of-a-kind assessment (attitudinal, not personality) that enables you to hold up a mirror to perceptions, attitudes, and behaviors. The ELI forms the initial launching point for teen coaching, giving them a baseline for their current level of awareness and performance. They will progress through a debriefing and orientation process that helps us come up with a developmental roadmap.
Every decision we make is attached to our personal values, which represents what is important to us. Understanding values helps us to reach a deeper level of understanding as to why we react the way we do to things that trigger us. I use this assessment so that your growth, your goals, and your overall experience will be in direct line with your values. It’s all about being true to yourself!
